Question
Milk worth Rs. 20/litre and Rs. 32/litre are mixed with a
third variety in the ratio 1:1:2 respectively. If the final mixture is worth Rs. 28/litre, then the price of the third variety of milk is:Solution
Let the quantity of three varieties of milk in the new mixture be βxβ litre, βxβ litre, and β2xβ litres respectively
Let the price of the third variety of milk be Rs. βyβ/litre
ATQ:
(20 Γ x) + (32 Γ x) + (y Γ 2x) = 28 Γ (x + x + 2x)
Or, 20x + 32x + 2xy = 28 Γ 4x
Or, 52x + 2xy = 112x
Or, 2xy = 60x
Or, y = 30
So, the price of the third variety of milk = Rs. 30/litre
