Question
270 litres of mixture 'X' contains milk and honey, only in
the ratio 7:2, respectively and 480 litres of mixture 'Y' contains milk and honey, only in the ratio 13:3, respectively. If mixtures 'X' and 'Y' are mixed, then what will be ratio of quantities of milk to that of honey in the resultant mixture?Solution
ATQ,
Quantity of milk in mixture 'A' = 270 X (7/9) = 210 litres
Quantity of honey in mixture 'A' = 270 - 210 = 60 litres
Quantity of milk in mixture 'B' = 480 X (13/16) = 390 litres
Quantity of honey in mixture 'B' = 480 - 390 = 90 litres
Therefore, required ratio = (210 + 390) :(60 + 90) = 600:150 = 4:1
