A mixture contains milk and water in the ratio 7:5. If 20
litres of water is added, the ratio changes to 7:6. What is the final amount of the mixture?Solution
ATQ,
Milk : Water = 7:5 → Total = 12 parts
Let total = 12x
→ Milk = 7x, Water = 5x
Add 20 litres of water → Water = 5x + 20
→ New ratio = 7x : (5x + 20) = 7 : 6
Original = 12 × 20 = 240 litres
Final = 240 + 20 = 260 litres
