      Question

The area of a rectangle is 192 cm2 and the

ratio of its length and breadth is 4:3 respectively. If the length of the rectangle is double of the side of a square, then find the area of the square.
A 49 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 100 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 81 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 64 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

We know that, area of the rectangle = length X breadth

Let the length and the breadth of the rectangle be 4x cm and 3x cm respectively.

      Or, 4x X 3x = 192

      Or, 12x2 = 192

      Or, x2 = 16

      So, 'x' = 4

      So, length of the rectangle = 4 X 4 = 16 cm

So, the side of the square = (16/2) = 8 cm

      So, required area = 82 = 64 cm2
