The cost of fencing a rectangular field at the rate of
Rs. 14/metre is Rs. 1176. If the ratio of length to breadth is 4:3, find the area of the rectangular field.Solution
Let the length and breadth be 4x metres and 3x metres respectively.
According to the question,
2 × (4x + 3x) = 1176 / 14
Or, 2 × 7x = 84
Or, 14x = 84
Or, x = 6 metres
Therefore, area = 4x × 3x = 12x² = 12 × 36 = 432 m²
