    Question

There is a rectangular paper, whose length and breadth

are in the ratio 13:17, respectively and it has a perimeter of 120 metres. If a triangular piece with height of 22 metres and base of 23 metres is cut out from the given paper then find the area (in m2) of the remaining paper.
A 621 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 601 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 611 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 631 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the length and breadth of the rectangular be тАШ13xтАЩ metres and тАШ17xтАЩ metres, respectively Then, perimeter of the paper = 2 ├Ч (length + breadth) = 2 ├Ч (13x + 17x) = 60 x metres So, 60x = 120 So, x = (120/60) = 2 So, area of the entire paper = length ├Ч breadth = (13 ├Ч 2) ├Ч (17 ├Ч 2) = 26 ├Ч 34 = 884 m2 Area of the triangular piece = (1/2) ├Ч base ├Ч height = (1/2) ├Ч 22 ├Ч 23 = 253 m2 So, area of the remaining paper = 884 тАУ 253 = 631 m2
