    Solution

    Using the formula, Perimeter = 2(l + b) & Area = length x breadth Let the length and breadth of the rectangle be 5x and 2x cm respectively. Then, 2(5x + 2x) = 28 ⇒ 14x = 28 ⇒ x = 28/14 = 2 Therefore, length = 5x = 10 cm Breadth = 2x = 4 cm Therefore, area = lb = 10 x 4 = 40 cm²
