Let the income of a perosn 'X' be Rs. x Amount spent by him on food = Rs. 0.2x Amount spent by him on education = 0.25 × (x – 0.2x) = Rs. 0.2x Amount spent by him on rent = 0.3 × (x – 0.2x – 0.2x) = Rs. 0.18x ATQ, x – (0.2x + 0.2x + 0.18x + 4000) = 4400 Or, x = 8400/0.42 = Rs.20,000
