Question
The sum of the HCF and LCM of two numbers is 340, and the
LCM is 16 times the HCF. If one of the numbers is 40, find the other number.Solution
ATQ,
Let HCF = x
Then LCM = 16x
x + 16x = 340
⇒ 17x = 340
⇒ x = 20
Now,
40 × y = 20 × 16 × 20 = 6400
⇒ y = 6400 ÷ 40 = 160
