    Question

What is the remainder when x is divided by 25? I.

x is a multiple of 5. II. x is a multiple of 125 Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and give answer –
A If the data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient in answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B If the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C If the data in either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D If the data in both the statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

We know that if x is a multiple of 5 (factor of 25), it is not necessary that it is divisible by 25 (another multiple of 5) From II, we know that if β€˜x’ is a multiple of a number which has 25 as its factor, then x is definitely completely divisible by 25 and thus remainder will be 0.
