Total attendees = 540 × 2 = 1080 Let males = M, females = F → M + F = 1080 Non-professionals: 30% of M + 50% of F = 588 → 0.3M + 0.5(1080 − M) = 588 → 0.3M + 540 − 0.5M = 588 → −0.2M = 48 → M = 240, F = 840 Male non-professionals = 0.3 × 240 = 72 Female professionals = 0.5 × 840 = 420 Average = (72 + 420) / 2 = 246
