Question
Rs. 4200 was divided between 'P', 'Q', 'R', and 'S' in the
ratio 4:6:3:7, respectively. Later, 'Q' gave an amount that equals 60% of the average amount received by 'P' and 'S', to 'R'. Find the average amount remaining with 'P' and 'R' now.Solution
ATQ,
Initial amount with 'P' = 4200 × (4/20) = Rs. 840
Initial amount with 'R' = 4200 × (3/20) = Rs. 630
Initial amount with 'S' = 4200 × (7/20) = Rs. 1470
Amount given by 'Q' to 'R' = {(840 + 1470) ÷ 2} × 0.60 = 2310 ÷ 2 × 0.60 = 1155 × 0.60 = Rs. 693
Final amount with 'R' = 630 + 693 = Rs. 1323
Therefore, required average = (840 + 1323) ÷ 2 = Rs.1081.5
