Question
The monthly incomes of P, Q and R are in the ratio 6:9:10,
and their average income is Rs. 12,500. If P, Q and R spend 60%, 50% and 40% of their respective incomes, what is the average of their monthly expenses?Solution
ATQ,
Sum of incomes of P, Q and R = 12500 × 3 = Rs. 37,500
Income of P = 37500 × (6/25) = Rs. 9,000
Income of Q = 37500 × (9/25) = Rs. 13,500
Income of R = 37500 × (10/25) = Rs. 15,000
Expense of P = 9000 × 0.6 = Rs. 5,400
Expense of Q = 13500 × 0.5 = Rs. 6,750
Expense of R = 15000 × 0.4 = Rs. 6,000
Therefore, required average = (5400 + 6750 + 6000) ÷ 3 = Rs. 6,050
