Question
The average weight of 50 workers in a factory is 70 kg. Two
workers weighing 75 kg and 68 kg leave the job and are replaced by two others weighing 72 kg and 71 kg. Find the new average weight of the workers.Solution
ATQ,
Sum of the weight of the workers initially = 50 × 70 = 3500 kg
Sum of weight after replacing two workers:
= 3500 - 75 - 68 + 72 + 71 = 3500 kg
So, required average = 3500 ÷ 50 = 70 kg
