Let the numbers be (a - 2), (a - 1), a, (a + 1) and (a + 2).
So, (a - 2 + a - 1 + a + a + 1 + a + 2) ÷ 5 = 48
Or, (5a/5) = 48
Or, 'a' = 48
Required sum = a - 2 + a + 2 = 2a = 2 × 48 = 96
