Question
The average speed of a vehicle for a certain number of
hours is 48 km/hr. If the vehicle travels 120 km in the next hour, the average increases by 2 km/hr. Find the total distance covered before this last hour.Solution
Let the number of hours before the last one be 'P'.
Distance before = 48P
(48P + 120) / (P + 1) = 50
=> 48P + 120 = 50P + 50
=> 2P = 70 => P = 35
Total distance = 48 × 35 = 1680 km
