    The average of four numbers is 150. Two of the numbers

    are equal (not least), and 50 more than the least number. If the 4th number is twice the least number then find the average of smallest and largest number.

    ATQ, Let the two equal numbers be ‘b’ each Therefore, least number = (b – 50) 4th number = 2(b – 50) According to the question, 2(b – 50) + b – 50 + b + b = 4 × 150 Or, 5b – 150 = 600 Or, b = 750/5 = 150 Therefore, 4 numbers are 150, 150, 100, and 200 Therefore, required average = (200 + 100)/2 = 150
