      Question

      Four persons β€˜A’, β€˜B’, β€˜C’, and β€˜D’ have

different amounts with them. β€˜D’ has twice the amount than that of β€˜A’. The amount β€˜B’ has is 12.5% more than that of β€˜D’. The amount β€˜C’ has is equal to the average amount all four people have. If the sum of the average amount all four have and the amount β€˜A’ has is Rs. 1100, then find the amount β€˜D’ has.
A 800 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 900 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 1200 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 1600 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Let β€˜A’ has Rs. a Therefore, amount possessed by β€˜D’ = Rs. 2a Amount possessed by β€˜B’ = 1.125 Γ— 2a = Rs. 2.25a Let the average amount possessed by all four be Rs. x Therefore, amount possessed by β€˜C’ = Rs. x According to the question, 2.25a + 2a + a = 4x – x Or, 5.25a = 3x Or x/a = 7/4 Therefore, a = 1100 Γ— 4/11 = Rs. 400 Amount possessed by β€˜D’ = 2a = Rs. 800.
