The average number of taxis of three colours (black,
white and yellow) in a taxi stand is 155. The number of black taxis is 60 more than that of yellow taxis. The total number of black and white taxis is 280. Find the number of white taxis in a taxi stand.Solution
Let the number of white taxis be ‘x’ Therefore, number of black taxis = (280 – x) Number of yellow taxis = (280 – x – 60) = (220 – x) According to the question, 220 – x + 280 – x + x = 155 × 3 Or, x = 35
