Question
The average height of each student in a class of 22
students is 158 cm. If 4 new students joined the class, then the average height of the each student in the class increases by 8 cm. Find the average height of 4 new students who joined the class.Solution
Total height of 22 students of the class = 158 × 22 = 3476 cm When 4 new students joined the class, average height of each student = 158 + 8 = 166 cm Total height of 26 students of the class = 166 × 26 = 4316 cm Average height of 4 new students who joined the class = {(4316 – 3476)/4} = 840/4 = 210 cm
