Question
If x : y : z = 3 : 5 : 8, and (6x + 3z) = 168, then find the value of 2y.
Solution
Let x = ‘3a’ So, y = 3a × (5/3) = ‘5a’ And z = 3a × (8/3) = ‘8a’ ATQ; 3a × 6 + 8a × 3 = 168 Or, 18a + 24a = 168 So, 42a = 168 So, a = 4 So, required value = 2 × 5a = 40
