The respective ratio of the present ages of A and B is

3:2. The present age of C is 20% more than that of B. The sum of the present ages of A, B and C is 74 years. What will be the ratio of the ages of A and B after 12 years?
A 27:16 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 21:15 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 16:21 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 21:16 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the present ages of A and B be 3x years and 2x years, respectively. Therefore, present age of C = 1.2 × 2 = 2.4x years According to the question, 3x + 2x + 2.4x = 74 7.4x = 74 Or, x = 74/7.4 = 10 Therefore, required ratio = (3x + 12):(2x + 12) = 42:32 = 21:16
