Let A’s age be x years. B’s age = 3x and C’s age = (5 + x) According to question, => x + 3x + (5 + x) = 40 => 5x = 35 => x = 7 B’s age = 3x = 21 years C’s age = 5 + x = 12 years Difference between the ages of B and C = 21 – 12 = 9 years
