Under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 read with the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, for the sale of DUAL unit prepackaged commodities or prepackaged food, the mandatory declaration that must appear prominently on every package includes, inter alia:

Rule 6 of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 requires every pre-packaged commodity to bear certain declarations, including the NET QUANTITY (in the principal unit), the MONTH AND YEAR of the package, the manufacturer or packer or importer's name and address, the MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICE (MRP) inclusive of all taxes, and the contact details, all in the prescribed minimum print/font sizes. Contrary particulars, however prominently priced, must not be misleading. The MRP-inclusive-of-all-taxes declaration is among the most consumer-facing requirements of the regime. Contravention is punishable.
