Under Article 22(2) of the Constitution of India, every person who is arrested and detained in custody must be produced before the nearest magistrate -

A as soon as practicable and in no case later than seventy-two hours of the arrest
B within three days computed excluding the day on which the arrest was effected
C within twelve hours of the arrest, without any allowance for the journey involved
D within twenty-four hours of arrest, excluding the time necessary for the journey to the court
E within forty-eight hours of the arrest, unless a magistrate otherwise authorises detention
