In a suit for recovery of a loan, a bank proposes to prove entries in its ledger without producing the original ledger, and produces a copy of the entries certified by its manager. Under Section 4 of the Bankers' Books Evidence Act, 1891, such a certified copy:

A Is inadmissible until the manager steps into the witness box and deposes to the correctness of the entries.
B Is admissible only if the borrower consents to the mode of proof, the Act being in derogation of the general law of evidence.
C Can be received only if the original ledger has been destroyed or is outside the jurisdiction of the court.
D Shall be received as prima facie evidence of the existence of such entry, and is admissible to the same extent as the original entry itself.
E Has no evidentiary value unless the copy is sent to the court in a sealed cover and opened in the presence of both parties.
