Article 371A provides for special provisions with respect to the State of Nagaland. It empowers the Nagaland Legislative Assembly to enact laws on a variety of matters, including customary law and procedure, ownership and transfer of land, and the administration of civil and criminal justice involving decisions according to Naga customary law. It also provides that no act of Parliament shall apply to Nagaland in respect of any religious or social practices of the Nagas, Naga customary law and procedure, and administration of civil and criminal justice involving decisions according to Naga customary law, without the consent of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
