Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic appointed Duro Macut as the country's new Prime Minister, with parliament confirming him by a vote of 153 to 46. Dr. Macut, who had no previous political experience, is a medical doctor and academic serving as deputy director of the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at Serbia's University Clinical Centre. He also holds positions as a full professor at the University of Belgrade Medical School and lectures at universities in Athens and Skopje. His expertise in reproductive endocrinology, particularly polycystic ovary syndrome, is internationally recognized, and he currently serves on the Executive Board of the European Society of Endocrinology. Macut's appointment followed the January 28th resignation of former Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, who stepped down after SNS party members assaulted a student protester in Novi Sad.
