Assembly Elections 2025, Gupta secured a significant victory in the Shalimar Bagh constituency, defeating Bandana Kumari of the Aam Aadmi Party by over 29,000 votes. Despite being a first-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), she was sworn in as Chief Minister by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, who administered the oath of office and secrecy to her and six cabinet ministers. Her cabinet includes Parvesh Verma as Deputy Chief Minister, along with ministers Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Raviraj Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh. Following the BJP's victory with 48 seats in the 70-member Delhi assembly, one of Gupta's first actions as Chief Minister was announcing the initial payment of Rs. 2,500 per month to women under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, scheduled to be credited to beneficiaries' bank accounts by March 8, 2025.
