Chinese architect and educator Liu Jiakun received the 2025 Pritzker Architecture Prize, becoming the 54th laureate and only the second Chinese architect to receive this esteemed recognition, following Wang Shu in 2012. Liu Jiakun has designed numerous notable projects including The Grand Canal Hangzhou Steelworks Park, Tianbao Cave District Renovation, Songyang Three-Temple Cultural Communication Center, and the Suzhou Imperial Kiln Gold Brick Museum. The Pritzker Architecture Prize, established in 1979 by the Pritzker family of Chicago through their Hyatt Foundation, is widely considered architecture's highest honor and includes a $100,000 award and a bronze medallion.
