How did the Mughal rulers celebrate their Timurid ancestry?

The Mughal rulers traced their lineage to two prominent ruling dynasties: through their maternal line to Genghis Khan, who ruled the Mongol territories, China, and Central Asia; and through their paternal line to Timur, who ruled Iran, Iraq, and modern-day Turkey. The Mughals took great pride in their Timurid ancestry, particularly because Timur had captured Delhi in 1398. To celebrate this prestigious lineage, Mughal emperors commissioned paintings that depicted both Timur and themselves, visually reinforcing their connection to this illustrious ancestor.
