    Solution

    Let the number of mango trees and the lichi trees in the orchard be 5x and 8x respectively. According to the question, Number of apple trees in the orchard = 5x + 0.4 × 5x = 7x Therefore, 5x + 8x + 7x = 85 Or, 20x = 85 Or, x = 4.25 Number of lichi trees in the orchard = 4.25x = 34
