Ministry of Railways and IIT Madras signed an MoU to establish the India 5G testbed at IRISET in Secunderabad. The testbed will focus on testing and developing 5G use cases for Indian Railways. It aims to accelerate the indigenisation efforts of Indian Railways in communications and create a testing facility. Indian Railways aims to enhance operational efficiency, passenger experience, and safety using 5G technology. The testbed has been jointly developed by IIT-Kanpur, SAMEER, IIT-Bombay, CEWiT, and IIT-Madras, funded by the Department of Telecommunications.
