C Mr. Janki Ballabh Committee Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Mr. L.S. Kaushik Committee Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E Mr. Anand Bordia Committee Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

Due to p ersistent demands for  reverting back to Old Pension Scheme (OPS) , the government established a committee in 2023 led by  T V Somanathan . The recommendations of the committee have led to the introduction of the new  Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) which was approved by the government to be effective from April 01, 2025.

      • The scheme will be effective from 1st  April, 2025 with central government employees shifting to UPS from the current National Pension System (NPS).
      • State governments will also have the option to adopt the Unified Pension Scheme. Choice, once exercised, will be final.
      • Provisions of UPS will also apply to past retirees of NPS (who have already superannuated).
