    Question

In the following question, a sentence is given,

divided into 5 parts. Part (E) is grammatically correct. Out of the other four parts, only one part is without error. Mark the option containing the part with no error. If none of the parts have errors, mark 'No error' as your answer. If all the parts have errors, marks 'All have errors' as your answer. The teacher said to all of us in class that, "While (A)/ some of you may be quite confidence (B)/ about your English speaking and writing skills, (C)/ you may be not aware of (D)/ some mistakes you have been making all this while." (E)
A D Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B C Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C A Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D All have errors Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E No error Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

A - remove THAT, since it is used when the sentence is in indirect speech. The dialogue enclosed within quotation marks indicates direct speech. B replace CONFIDENCE with CONFIDENT. The latter is the adjective, which is required in the context of the sentence to modify the pronoun YOU. C - No error. D- change position of BE so that the sentence reads MAY NOT BE, to indicate a negative possibility of something. The phrase 'may be not' is grammatically incorrect in the context of this sentence. (b) is the right answer.
