    Taichung Native-1 was developed in 1969-74 and was a cross between Dwarf Chow-wu-gen x Tsai-Yuan-Chunj. It was first dwarf variety of rice.  IR8 is a high-yielding semi-dwarf rice variety developed but it was not first dwarf hybrid variety.
