The Union Bank of India has put forth a golden opportunity for many job aspirants by announcing vacancies for the post of ‘Specialist Officers’ under various categories/disciplines. The application window was open till Sept 03, 2021. It will be beneficial if all the candidates go through the complete UBI SO eligibility criteria before moving on with the application. There is a fixed criterion based on which the eligibility of the candidates will be determined. The eligibility criteria will be taken into consideration as of Sept 03, 2021.

Educational Qualification

The candidates applying for any one of the announced posts by the bank, need to possess the requisite educational qualifications, failing which the application will be rejected. There are 10 posts under the ‘Specialist Officer’ category, all of which require different qualifications depending on the discipline. The UBI SO educational qualifications required for all the posts are as follows:

Senior Manager (Risk) - MMGS-III

There are various qualifications prescribed by the Union Bank of India for the post of Senior Manager (Risk) and if a candidate possesses any one of these qualifications, he/she can apply for the post. Apart from these mandatory educational qualifications, certain desirable qualifications have also been mentioned by the Union Bank of India in its recruitment notification. If a candidate possesses these qualifications, there is a chance of priority being given in the final selection. The various educational qualifications are:

  • Certificate in MS Access, Working knowledge of Modeling tools like “R” SPSS etc, SQL from Globally known organizations such as Microsoft, CISCO etc. or nationally known institute such as NIIT,CMS,APTECH etc. or institutions recognized by the Govt. of India/Govt. regulatory bodies will be preferred.
Relevant post qualification of Risk related work experience in Credit Risk and Risk Modeling in Financial Institutions/ Rating Agencies/Brokerage firms - Minimum 5 Years.

Manager (Risk) - MMGS-II

There are different educational qualifications prescribed by the Union Bank of India for the post of Manager (Risk) in Grade II that are mandatory for application. Besides these essential educational qualifications, certain desirable qualifications have also been mentioned by the Union Bank of India in its notification. If a candidate possesses these qualifications, there is a chance that such candidates may be given priority over others in the final selection. A candidate can possess any one of the following qualifications:

The educational qualification required for the post of Manager (Civil Engineers) is different as compared to the above-mentioned posts. The qualifications required are:

Manager (Architects) - MMGS-II

For the post of Manager (Architects), following qualifications are a must:

  • Must have valid registration of council of Architecture.
  • Must have knowledge of Auto CAD & should be conversant with Govt. guidelines pertaining to procurement of works, goods & services.
Minimum 3 year of experience in Planning, Designing, Supervision and execution of multi-storied Commercial/Institutional/Residential Projects along with interiors in Govt./Semi Govt. Dept. or Institutions/Public Sector Undertaking

Manager (Electrical Engineers) - MMGS-II

To apply for the post of Manager (Electrical Engineers), the candidates need to possess the following educational qualification:

Manager (Printing Technologists) - MMGS-II

To apply for the post of Manager (Printing Technologists), the candidates need to possess the following educational qualification:

Manager (Forex) - MMGS-II

Minimum 3 years’ of experience in Banking and Finance in Foreign trade Finance operations in Public/Private Sector Banks

Manager (Chartered Accountants) - MMGS-II

The candidates applying for the post of Manager (Chartered Accountants) is required to possess the qualification of:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as CA in a BANK/NBFC/FIs/Credit rating agency.
  • Post qualification experience in high value credit, appraisal/ assessment of credit proposals of medium/large corporate, capital planning & raising activities, quarterly review/ analysis of capital structure, Bank's Financial statements preparation will be given preference.

Assistant Manager (Technical Officers) - JMGS-I

For the candidates applying for the post of Assistant Manager (Technical Officers), the following qualifications are required:

  • Certificate Course in Forex conducted by IIBF along with above mention qualification will be preferred.

Age Criteria

Besides adhering to the guidelines pertaining to the educational qualifications, candidates also need to follow the age criteria as laid down by the bank. The minimum age to apply for the UBI SO exam is 20 years whereas the maximum can reach upto 40 years depending on the post. The post-wise UBI SO age limit applicable as on Aug 01, 2021, is as follows:

Age Relaxation

The Union Bank of India (UBI) will also provide a relaxation in the upper age limit to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) / Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) / Ex-Servicemen, Commissioned Officers, including Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs/Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs) / Persons affected by 1984 riots. The relaxation will be provided on a cumulative basis.
