Question
In the question below there are four statements
followed by three conclusions I, II and III. You have to take the three given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the four statements disregarding commonly known facts . Statements: Some almond are cashew. Only cashew are nut. Only a few almond are raisin. No raisin is cashew. Conclusions: I. No raisin is nut. II. Some almond are nut. III. All cashew are almond.Solution
Only cashew are nut → All nut are cashew and cashew can have negative relation with anyone. Hence conclusion I follows but conclusion II does not follow. Some almond are cashew (I) → Conversion → Some cashew are almond (I). Hence conclusion III does not follow.
