    In the questions given below there are three statements

    followed by three conclusions I, II and III. You have to take the three given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts. Statements: Few Parents are Sisters. All Sisters are Brothers. Some Sisters are Mothers. Conclusion: I. Some Brothers are Parents. II. Some Mothers are Parents. III. Some Parents are Mothers is a possibility.

    Solution

    Few Parents are Sisters (I) + All Sisters are Brothers (A) → Some Parents are Brothers (I) → Conversion → Some Brothers are Parents (I). Hence conclusion I follows. Few Parents are Sisters (I) + Some Sisters are Mothers (I) → No conclusion. Hence conclusion II does not follow. Few Parents are Sisters (I) + Some Sisters are Mothers (I) → Probable conclusion → Some Parents may be Mothers (I). Hence conclusion III follows.
