Question
‘P’, ‘Q’ and ‘R’ divide a certain amount among
themselves. The average of their shares is Rs. 4860. Share of ‘P’ is 12(1/2)% more than share of ‘Q’ and 25% less than share of ‘R’. What is the share of ‘Q’ (in Rs.)?Solution
ATQ,
Let share of ‘Q’ = Rs. 80x
Share of ‘P’ = 80x + (12.5% of 80x) = 80x + 10x = Rs. 90x
Share of ‘R’ = (4/3) × 90x = Rs. 120x
Total amount = 4860 × 3 = Rs. 14580
So, 80x + 90x + 120x = 14580
Or, 290x = 14580
Or, x = 50
So, share of ‘Q’ = 80 × 50 = Rs. 4000
