Question
A 220 metres long train, travelling at 60 km/h crosses a
platform in 30 seconds. What is the length of the platform?Solution
ATQ,
Speed of train = 60 km/h = 60 × (5/18) = 16.67 m/s
Using, distance = speed × time
Let the length of the platform be ‘L’ metres.
So, 220 + L = 16.67 × 30
Or, 220 + L = 500
Or, ‘L’ = 500 – 220
Or, ‘L’ = 280
