Question
Weight of which of the following box is 13kg?
Study the following information carefully and answer the below questions. Eight boxes of different vegetable viz. - Tomato, Potato, Carrot, Onion, Brinjal, Garlic, Capsicum, and Corn are kept one above other in the form of a stack. Weight of each box is different viz.- 13, 19, 21, 24, 26, 32, 39, and 46kg. All the information is not necessary in the same order. Corn has kept three places above the box whose weight is 39kg, but not kept at top. Capsicum is kept just below the box whose weight is 39kg. The number of boxes kept above Brinjal is one more than the number of boxes kept below Capsicum. Box kept adjacent to brinjal is kept three places away from Onion. The weight of Brinjal is 3/4th of the weight of Onion. The number of boxes kept between Corn and the one whose weight is 32kg is the same as the number of boxes kept between Carrot and the one whose weight is 26kg. Carrot has kept two places below the one whose weight is 21kg. The sum of the weights of Carrot and Onion is twice the weight of Tomato. Garlic is not kept at the top but kept at any place above the box whose weight is 13kg.Solution
We have: Corn has kept three places above the box whose weight is 39kg, but not kept at top. Capsicum is kept just below the box whose weight is 39kg. The number of boxes kept above Brinjal is one more than the number of boxes kept below Capsicum. That means, in case (1) Capsicum is kept at bottom, in case (2) Capsicum is kept third from bottom. Box kept adjacent to brinjal is kept three places away from Onion. The weight of Brinjal is 3/4th of the weight of Onion. Since, only such possible combination is (32, 24). That means, in case (1) Onion has kept two places above Capsicum, in case (2) Onion has kept at the bottom. Based on the above given information we have Case (2) is not valid as the number of boxes between Corn and the one whose weight is 32kg is the same as the number of boxes between Carrot and the one whose weight is 26kg . Again, we have: The sum of the weights of Carrot and Onion is twice the weight of Tomato. Thus, only such possible combinations are (46, 32, 39). That means, the weight of Carrot must be 46kg and the weight of Tomato is 39kg. Garlic is not kept at the top but kept at any place above the box whose weight is 13kg. That means, the weight of Garlic is 26kg, and the weight of Capsicum is 13kg. Based on the above given information we have the final arrangement as follows:
