Question
Find the odd pair
out: Answer the questions based on the information given below: Ten persons E, F, J, K, L, M, A, X, Y and Z live in a building, which has five floors where bottommost floor is numbered as 1 and the topmost floors is numbered 5. Each floor has two types of flats i.e. D1 and D2 such that floor 2 of D1 is immediately above floor 1 of D1 and immediately below floor 3 of D1 and so on. Similarly, floor 2 of D2 is immediately above floor 1 of D2 and immediately below floor 3 of D2 and so on. D1 is to the west of D2. J lives immediately above A, who doesn’t live on a prime numbered floor. E live to the south east of A.Z’s floor is immediately below E’s floor but they live in different types of flat. L and M live on same numbered floor. Y lives above K, who lives to the north east of L.X lives on floor 1.Solution
1. J lives immediately above A, who doesn’t live on a prime numbered floor. 2. E lives to the south east of A.Z’s floor is immediately below E’s floor but they live in different types of flat. So, A and J live on floor 4 and floor 5 of D1, respectively. E lives on floor 2 or floor 3. 3. L and M live on same numbered floor. 4. X lives on floor 1 of one of the buildings, this is not possible in case II, so case II is rejected. 5. Y lives above K, who lives to the north east of L. So, L and M live on floor 3. Y lives on floor 5 of D2. F lives on floor 2 of D1. The final table is given below:
Logic: Z and Y both live on odd floors.
