Question

    In a game of 100 points, if A gets 100 points, B gets 10

less than A and C gets 30 less than A. Then, how many points can C get if B gets 180 points?
A 80 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 160 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 140 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 120 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    A : B = 100 : 90,  A : C = 100 : 70 B/C = (B/A ×  A/C) B/C = 90/100 ×  100/70 B/C = 90/70 = 9:7 In a game if B gets 180 points B/C = 9/7 = (9 ×  20) ÷  (7 ×  20) = 180/140 C gets 140 points Alternate method: A:B:C  = 100 : 90:70 So now B is 180 , hence ratio of B:C = 90: 70 = 180:x So x  = 140
