Question
If 3cos²A + 2sin²A = 11/5, then find the value of (sec²A - 1)
Solution
3cos²A + 2sin²A = 11/5
Or, cos²A + 2(cos²A + sin²A) = 11/5
Or, cos²A + 2 = 11/5
Or, cos²A = 11/5 - 2 = 1/5
So, sec²A = 1 / (1/5) = 5
Required value = 5 - 1 = 4
