Question
A train running at 90 km/h takes 18 seconds to pass a pole.
Find the approximate time required for the train to cross a platform that is 0.8 times the length of the train.Solution
ATQ,
Length of the train = (90 Γ (5/18) Γ 18) = 450 metres
Length of the platform = (450 Γ 0.8) = 360 metres
Time taken by train to cross the platform = [(450 + 360) / (90 Γ (5/18))]= (810 / 25) = 32.4 seconds
