Question

    Two trains ‘A’ and ‘B’ started from station

    ‘P’ and ‘Q’ towards station ‘Q’ and ‘P’ respectively at the same time. When they met after 17 hours, train ‘B’ has travelled 130 km more than train ‘A’. Find the distance travelled by train ‘A’ in 5 hours if distance between both stations is 640 km.
    A 75 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 89 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 66 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 25 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let distance travelled by train ‘A’ at the time of meet = ‘x’ km So, distance travelled by train ‘B’ at the time of meet = ‘x + 130’ km According to question; x + x + 130 = 640 => 2x = 510 => x = 255 Distance travelled by train ‘A’ in 17 hours = 255 km Speed of train ‘A’ = 255/17 = 15 km/h Distance travelled by train ‘A’ in 5 hours = 15 × 5 = 75 km
