Question
'Sunil', 'Arjun', and 'Rahul' can complete a task
individually in 45, 60, and 90 days respectively. All began the work together, but Sunil and Arjun left 11 and 6 days before work completion respectively. Calculate the total time to finish the task. (Calculate approximate value)Solution
ATQ,
Let the total work be 180 units (LCM of 45, 60, 90)
Efficiency of Sunil = 180 / 45 = 4 units/day
Efficiency of Arjun = 180 / 60 = 3 units/day
Efficiency of Rahul = 180 / 90 = 2 units/day
Let total time = n days
(4 + 3 + 2)(n - 11) + (3 + 2)(5) + 2(6) = 180
Or, 9n - 99 + 25 + 12 = 180
Or, 9n = 242
So, n = 242 / 9 = 26.88 ≈ 27 days
