Question

Car ‘A’ can cross a 560 metre long bridge in 14 seconds. Car ‘A’ is 90 metres ahead of car ‘B’ which is travelling in the same direction as that of car ‘A’ with a speed of 50 m/s. After how many seconds will car ‘B’ meet car ‘A’?

A 6 seconds Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 9 seconds Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 12 seconds Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 15 seconds Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

Solution

Speed of car ‘A’ = 560 ÷ 14 = 40 m/s So, relative speed of car ‘B’ with respect to car ‘A’ = 50 – 40 = 10 m/s Distance between the two cars = 90 metres So, time taken by car ‘B’ to meet car ‘A’ = 90 ÷ 10 = 9 seconds
