    • Question

In a 25 km race, P, Q, and R are running at uniform speed.

If ‘P’ beats ‘Q’ by 5 km, and ‘Q’ beats ‘R’ by 3 km, then by how many metres does ‘P’ beat ‘R’?
      A 4600 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      B 2550 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      C 3110 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      D 7400 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ,

When ‘P’ covers 25 km, ‘Q’ will cover 20 km

Similarly, when ‘Q’ covers 25 km, ‘R’ covers 22 km

      Therefore, when ‘Q’ covers 20 km, then ‘R’ will cover = (20 × 22) / 25 = 17.6 km

      Therefore, ‘P’ will beat ‘R’ by = 25 – 17.6 = 7.4 km = 7400 metres
